EmpowerHer Emotions Circle: A Social-Emotional Regulation Group for Girls

What is emotional regulation?

Emotional regulation is the way we manage and respond to emotional experience. For girls who are struggling with depression, anxiety or self-esteem, this can get in the way of forming positive social connections, problem solving, and/or school and home life. The group will focus on learning social emotional skills to respond to lived emotional experiences.  The therapist leading the group will teach strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness skills.

The therapist will cover themes and skills that address depression, anxiety, school, life and self-esteem stressors.

EmpowerHer Emotions Circle will help your child to:

  • Learn to cope with challenging thoughts by replacing them with a new outlook.
  • Learn to not allow emotions to dictate your child’s behavior, and help them align their actions to goals and values that are important to them.
  • Learn how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate emotions, and improve their relationship with others.
  • Learn strategies to improve self-esteem

After this group, your child will be able to walk away with a toolbox of skills that will help your child cope with challenging emotions.

Logistics:

EmpowerHer Emotions Circle is a 6-week group for girls ages 14-17. It is slated to begin on October 1. The group will take place on Tuesday evenings from 7-8pm, via a secure virtual platform. We strongly encourage participants to attend every group session to maintain group cohesion and to get the most out of the group experience.

This group is not a psychotherapy group; it is a psychoeducational group and this type of group is for educational purposes and skill development. This group is not to replace therapy, and your child should consult with his or her therapist for ongoing care if needed.

This is a private pay group. The fee per session is $85.  Save $50 by paying upfront for all six sessions, bringing your total to $460 instead of $510.
