Being seen, heard and validated by a trustworthy person is the first step of telling your story. My  primary focus is to create a safe space so that therapy can be a positive experience for you.  Identifying and celebrating the beautiful, joyous parts of your story while acknowledging and processing the ugly, unpleasant parts is the challenging work. Therapy is a team effort requiring  patience and consistency. Part of my commitment to you is to encourage patience with yourself  as you embark on this journey. I feel privileged to be used as an agent of change and being trusted with the vulnerable parts of your life.

Deep emotional wounds that are not tended to, can interfere with enjoying life. Healing means acknowledging the stories behind these wounds, not forgetting them. Therapy plays a role in transforming those wounds into scars that serve as memorials of the hard work you invested to change your view of life from surviving to thriving.

I am a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor residing in Washington, DC. Although therapy is my second career, raising four children to adulthood has prepared me with life experience  prior to my formal education. My Christian faith gives me the lens to view each person as uniquely created, deserving of dignity and respect.

The therapy techniques I use most are Person Centered, CBT, EMDR, and Narrative. Meditation and mindfulness are incorporated as needed to get the most out of each session.
